Holiday Hospitality in 5 easy steps

Hello Decor Friends,

The holiday season is a time of joy, celebration, and togetherness. Whether you're hosting family or friends, providing a warm and inviting guest room can make a significant difference in their overall holiday experience. These are my top five tips to ensure your guest room is a haven of comfort and hospitality during this festive season.

Step 1: Clean and Declutter

Start by giving the guest room a thorough cleaning. Dust surfaces, vacuum the floor, and wipe down any furniture. Clear out unnecessary clutter to create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Consider removing personal items that might make your guests feel like they're intruding on your space. Make space in the closet or dresser for your guests to unpack and settle in comfortably.

Step 2: Fresh Linens and Bedding

Nothing says "welcome" like fresh, clean linens. Wash and change the bedding, including sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers. Opt for festive or neutral colors that complement the holiday season. Make sure to provide extra blankets and pillows to accommodate different preferences. A well-made bed not only adds to the room's aesthetic but also ensures your guests enjoy a restful night's sleep.

Step 3: Add Personal Touches

Inject a bit of holiday spirit into the guest room by adding thoughtful and festive touches. Consider placing a small bouquet of seasonal flowers on the nightstand or a tray with holiday-scented candles. Maybe you have a photo of your guests with you- pop it in a frame and add to their nightstand. A tabletop Christmas tree is super cute and inviting.

Step 4: Stock Up on Essentials

Ensure your guests have everything they need by stocking the room with essential items. Place a tray with water, glasses, and perhaps a bowl of snacks on the bedside table. Include a spare phone charger, toiletries, and fresh towels in an easily accessible spot. If your guests are staying for an extended period, consider providing a spare key and information about the Wi-Fi network. Anticipating your guests' needs demonstrates thoughtfulness and makes their stay more enjoyable.

Step 5: Create a Relaxing Ambiance

Set the mood for relaxation by creating a soothing ambiance in the guest room. Consider using soft lighting, such as bedside lamps to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. If possible, add blackout curtains to help your guests sleep soundly. Playing soft holiday music or providing a selection of books and magazines can also contribute to a tranquil and enjoyable stay. Turn on the lights so your guests do not walk into a dark room. It’s the little things.

Wishing you joy and happiness as you celebrate with those you love.

Merry Christmas,

~Tatum
